Motherhood is beautiful but it is definitely not all baby cuddles and soft music in the background. It gets messy and I am here to help prepare you so that you know what to expect and not get taken by surprise. The lessons are honest, realistic and evidence-based with a bit of humour because that is the only way to survive parenthood 😉
My goal is to equip new parents for this journey as much as possible because it is one wild ride but the most amazing experience I have ever had, and I want you to have all the information you need to get off to a great start.
"Excellent! The course was practical, comprehensive and useful, not only for mothers to be but also for support and care providers. The course was easy to understand and follow. It covered essential topics which focused not only on baby’s health and welfare, but also on mothers mental, emotional and physical health and well being, which is an often overlooked aspect. I really appreciate Lizane, Midwife for this. I would highly recommend this course."
It is a pre-recorded course with videos of between a 1- 10 minutes long that you can watch on your own time and at your own pace. Your partner is welcome to join and you can rewatch at any time.
Designed for first-time parents but all parents-to-be are welcome to join for a refresher!
Please note that I am not in a position to offer any advice or medical diagnosis to your current pregnancy as I have not examined you personally. However, I am always just an email away if you have any burning questions in general or want to connect if you need a shoulder to lean on.
Consider asking on mommy support groups, Google or friends/family for referrals to someone that specialises in postpartum maternal health and/or depression. It is important to reach out if you feel like you are not coping and get the necessary help.
Unfortunately I am not able to offer in-person classes due to my family and work commitments. I assure you that you will find all the relevant information in this course and you are still welcome to send me a mail with more questions if you have.
Uhm yes … pregnancy and childbirth follow the same process regardless of your location, upbringing, culture, race or any other factors. The things that might differ include:
This can be a tricky one. Not all partners want to know every bit of detail about what your body is going through or will be going through. This is up to you because you know your partner best, BUT I can give you a bit of a heads-up perhaps:
It is really not that bad, your partner is about to enter a world of baby pee, poo, spit-up, projectile vomiting and more. They might as well start somewhere!
